Project 365 – Happy Heart Doughnuts

It’s the first day of Thanksgiving vacation and I thought I would make my family a special breakfast treat: doughnuts!  I decided to make the doughnuts a little too late to make a full blown yeast doughnut recipe so I looked online for a “quick” doughnut recipe using baking soda instead.  And although we all enjoyed my previous quick doughnut recipe, I was feeling a little adventurous and wanted to try something new.  So after a quick Internet search I came across this recipe, although I did make one change to the recipe based on a suggestion by one of the reviewers.  Since I just made a big batch of my homemade Greek yogurt yesterday, I substituted yogurt for the milk and vinegar in the recipe.

But when it came time to roll out the doughnuts and cut them I couldn’t find my doughnut cutters (and I honestly don’t even remember if I have any).  In my search, however, I found my heart-shaped cookie cutters and thought, hmm…. I wonder…

The result?  They worked like a charm!  And, as an added bonus, I got to send my family a little extra love as a result!

Project 365 – Beautiful Beach House

We arrived home a few days ago from our wonderful November vacation to the beach and have awakened to a dusting of snow here in Ohio.  It’s been frigidly cold here since we stepped off the airplane so when I came across this photo I took on one of my walks along the beach I thought it would make a good Project 365 post for today.  Here’s hoping it brings a little warmth and sunshine into your day wherever you are!
