Project 365 – Bark, Baby!

I just love using my camera to get up close and personal with the world around me.  I shot these images yesterday on my photo hike and I had a lot of fun playing around with them in Photoshop to achieve these final results.  I think either the first one or the last one is my favorite, but I just can’t decide.  I would love to know which one you prefer.  It sure would help me if I decided to enter one in my photography club’s monthly photo contest.

Project 365 – Prairie Grass

I took a lovely little photo hike through a nearby metro park this morning.  There was a blanket of clouds covering the sky so the shooting conditions were just perfect!  It was so serene and peaceful that I lost myself for about an hour in the solitude of it all.  I think my new love for photography has led me into another yet undiscovered passion: hiking!  It’s hard to believe I am only just now discovering the undeniable pleasure both of these activities add to my life.  But as they say, better late than never, right?

Project 365 – Autumn Colors

Today, after a quick run on the treadmill, I grabbed my camera and headed down to the local state park.  My intention was to head to one of my favorite bridges for some photos, but on a whim decided on a little detour.  I ended up hiking along a new path to see what I could find.  It turned out to be a much more interesting hike than I had anticipated.  Not only did I capture some nice autumn images, but I also ran into an international, award-winning producer of documentaries and travelogues!  He was shooting footage along the same path I was wandering along.  As we chatted about this and that I discovered he is also an instructor of cinematography at the University of Washington, and has shot footage for the T.V. shows including the X-Files.  Fun, yes?

Before parting he issued me a challenge and, as everyone knows, I am always up for a challenge!  I am to return to the park, switch my camera into video mode, and shoot some videos of the same scenes in which I have been shooting stills.  He offered a couple of tips for shooting video, which have been duly noted.  I plan to act on the challenge in the very near future….  Then I suppose my next challenge will be to figure out how to post said videos here!  🙂

Project 365 – October Snow

Here in Ohio autumn is in full swing and, in fact, we still have trees with green leaves!  But a cold front swept in over the last 36 hours or so and with it the arrival of snow!  Those who know me well know that I am a warm weather girl so this early blast of arctic air does not make me a happy camper.  And to make matters worse, I’ve been running a fever today so the added chill in the air isn’t doing my chilled bones any good.  But, not one to let a good photo opp pass me by, I slid open the sun room door and snapped this photo of the gathering snow on my deck.

And I don’t know if it’s the cold, overcast weather that has me feeling so domestic, but I woke up today with intentions of making cookies and caramel apples.  But, after tackling some shop orders and hitting the grocery I only had enough steam left to make the apples.  Too bad I wasn’t feeling up to actually enjoying one.

But then… there’s always tomorrow.  😀

Project 365 – Ghoulish Fun

Here are a couple more snapshots from yesterday’s fun farm store run.  My son was a good sport and even attempted some grim faces while allowing me to capture the ghoulish figures on display.  🙂
